Ford Parts Are Easier To Find

One of the most interesting things that set the Ford Motor Company apart from its competition is the fact that once they find something that works exceptionally well, they avoid changing it when they update their models. This practice makes finding Ford parts easier than some of the competition.

One example would be the seemingly inconsequential oil filter. This small part has a great deal of effect on how long an engine lasts based on how it cleans the oil that lubricates the moving parts. Ford found one size of oil filter that performed well on several different engines of different sizes. That one size was sold as a Motorcraft FL 1A filter and was available in all parts stores as well as many discount stores, such as Wal Mart.

There are many other cases of a single size and style of a part being used in several different engines, making it much more likely that this part would be a standard part of the inventory in most parts stores. Most parts would bear the name Ford, but many were also manufactured under the names Motorcraft and FoMoCo.

There are other parts manufacturers who produce compatible parts for a ford vehicle, but Motorcraft and FoMoCo are the names on Ford parts manufactured by Ford for use in their vehicles.
