Digital Publishing Opens Doors To New Writers
Established authors who publish books regularly
may not be as happy about the changes in the
publishing industry being brought about by the
advent of digital publishing as new writers. This is
because many new writers whose names are unknown are
finding a way to get their material into the public
eye without paying to have their works published in
book form.
Digital publishing is the new trend in distribution
of written material, especially nonfiction works.
Authors, publishing houses and others are finding
that by distributing at least a portion of new works
to retailers and potential readers in digital,
downloadable format at no charge is generating
interest in the complete works in a way that
traditional promotion tours and book signings was
never able to match.
Additionally, offering books in digital format for
download at prices that are a fraction of the
current rates charged for print copies is increasing
the readership of works that may have never seen the
light of day without the advent of digital ebooks
and ebook readers.
Even writers with established reputations and
readerships are offering the opening chapters of
upcoming works in digital format on their own
websites as a means of whetting the appetites of
their fans in anticipation of new releases.
